The OEMStar is a low cost, L1 precision receiver that tracks GPS and GLONASS signals, providing excellent price/performance value and optimal satellite availability for GNSS application developers. It is hardware form-factor compatible with NovAtel's Superstar II, OEMV-1 and OEMV-1G receivers. The OEMStar also uses Space Based Augmentation System (SBAS) corrections from services such as the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS).

Ease of integration

The OEMStar is just 46 x 71 x 13 millimetres in size and weighs only 18 grams, making it easy to integrate into new and existing systems and an ideal choice for both weight and size constrained applications. It accepts an input voltage between 3.3 and 5.0 VDC and consumes less than 750 mW of power. The OEMStar uses NovAtel's OEMV-style command interface.

Multi-constellation Performance

GPS+GLONASS positioning and measurements are used in combination with GPS data to provide increased satellite availability for positioning in challenging environments at a very cost-effective price. The OEMStar provides 14 channels of combined L1 GPS and GLONASS code and carrier phase tracking. Channels can be tailored to suit individual customer requirements, by using a software command. Position, velocity and time information is available at up to 10 Hz, with a 1 PPS accuracy of 20 ns. In addition, OEMStar supports NovAtel's Pulse Aperture Correlator (PAC) technology which optimizes performance in high multi-path environments.

NovAtel's AdVance RTK receiver provides rapid centimeter-level positioning. The dual frequency RT-2™ and single frequency RT-2 L1TE enhance the survey-grade performance of NovAtel's OEMV® GNSS receiver family. The RT-20 option also provides code and carrier based decimeter-level positions. For a more detailed look into Advance RTK click the following NovAtel link http://www.novatel.com/Documents/Papers/AdvanceRTKWhitePaper.pdf

RT-2
RT-2 is customized for OEMV hardware and focuses on fast initialization times and position accuracy over a variable range of usable baseline lengths. An independent quality check indicates whether a fixed position solution has been verified, ensuring a higher level of robustness and a more reliable position solution.

Highlights:

  • Rapid Time to Narrow Lane (TTNL) at variable baseline lengths
  • Ambiguity Fixing out to 40+ km
  • High fix availability and reliability
  • Configurable reliability levels for variable environments
  • 1cm + 1ppm accuracy
  • GPS-only or GPS+GLONASS modes
  • Same interface and commands as previous NovAtel products
  • Available on OEMV-2 and OEMV-3 receivers

RT-2 L1TE
NovAtel's RT-2 L1TE enhances the survey grade performance of NovAtel's OEMV® GNSS receiver family. It offers users of single frequency GPS+GLONASS+SBAS positioning, a centimetre-level RTK solution for baseline lengths of up to 3 kilometres. RT-2 L1TE utilizes L1 GPS, L1 GLONASS, and SBAS measurements to resolve ambiguities and form code-based corrections, making use of the wider satellite availability of multiple constellations.

  • Lower-cost survey-grade positioning for baseline lengths of up to 3km
  • Ambiguity fixing of less than 60s in multiple conditions
  • 1.5cm + 1 ppm
  • GPS + GLONASS + SBAS mode provides more satellite availability
  • Customized for NovAtel's OEMV-1G single frequency hardware platform

“With more reliable ambiguity solutions and faster convergence across all baselines, AdVance RTK delivers significant improvements in performance across many applications, including challenging environments such as urban canyons or foliage canopies. We believe this new receiver will raise the standard for precise positioning technologies today. AdVance RTK will be the performance baseline for future GNSS technology developments.” Pat Fenton, CTO for NovAtel.

NovAtel is proud to introduce their new GL1DE  positioning technology. GL1DE  offers superior positioning stability and is provided, at no additional charge, on all NovAtel OEMV cards and OEMV-based receivers with current PCS (post-contractual support) subscriptions.

GL1DE  optimally combines L1 code and L1 phase data to produce a positioning solution well-suited for applications such as agricultural guidance, where pass-to-pass repeatability is critical. With GL1DE, positioning jumps are less than 1 cm from one epoch to the next.
Highlights:

  • Works with single point, SBAS, CDGPS and OmniStar VBS positioning modes.
  • GL1DE  delivers pass-to-pass accuracies of better than 50 cm in areas with no SBAS or other wide area correction services.
  • Includes an auto-detection mode to automatically switch between dynamic and static modes.

Test Results Prove the Difference:
Testing shows GL1DE provides superior pass-to-pass performance for applications where relative positioning is important.  A FlexPak-V1 receiver and GPS-702-GGL antenna were mounted on a test vehicle traveling east to west at speeds of 5-12 kph.
The smooth consistency of GL1DE's positional output delivers a much more stable input into guidance tools for pass-to-pass applications. This characteristic GL1DE  performance can be seen at http://www.novatel.com/products/glide.htm.
The GL1DE  effect is most noticeable when using a SMART-V1 antenna, which has a lower quality antenna than the 700-series antenna NovAtel used in their comparison. Its least squares solution is typically much noisier than with a FlexPak/Pinwheel combination and the GL1DE solution smoothes it exceptionally well.

ALIGN Technology is NovAtel’s latest firmware feature. It provides distance and bearing for customers whose applications are centred around heading. This information can be generated between one ‘Master’ receiver and one or more ‘Remote’ receivers. ALIGN  is ideal for those users who require relative directional heading, separation heading between two objects, or heading information with moving base line and pointing applications. These applications can be used within various industries including marine, agriculture, unmanned and machine control vehicles.

ALIGN is available on all current NovAtel OEMV hardware units including single and dual frequency systems. It is also compatible with the FSL MICROpod and can function for GPS-only and GPS + GLONASS models and supports a 10Hz heading output rate.
