Recently, the OmniSTAR Fugro Newsletter (OmniSTAR Fugro Newsletter -17/09/09) informs their customers that a change of satellite will occur at the end of September 2009 (28th) and some outages may be experienced along October 2009 due to equipment calibration. The cause is: the satellite service provider supplying Fugro with broadcast capacity is doing a restructuring of the frequency assignments to make room for more bandwidth intensive services. This has forced Fugro to change the frequency for the service covering Europe (West, East and Central) and Africa. The OmniSTAR corrections will then be transmitted optimally from the EUSAT satellite. By the end of November 2009 the location of the satellite with the old frequency would have become sub-optimal for users in Central and Eastern Europe.
