GL1DE Technology
NovAtel is proud to introduce their new GL1DE positioning technology. GL1DE offers superior positioning stability and is provided, at no additional charge, on all NovAtel OEMV cards and OEMV-based receivers with current PCS (post-contractual support) subscriptions.
GL1DE optimally combines L1 code and L1 phase data to produce a positioning solution well-suited for applications such as agricultural guidance, where pass-to-pass repeatability is critical. With GL1DE, positioning jumps are less than 1 cm from one epoch to the next.
Highlights:
- Works with single point, SBAS, CDGPS and OmniStar VBS positioning modes.
- GL1DE delivers pass-to-pass accuracies of better than 50 cm in areas with no SBAS or other wide area correction services.
- Includes an auto-detection mode to automatically switch between dynamic and static modes.
Test Results Prove the Difference:
Testing shows GL1DE provides superior pass-to-pass performance for applications where relative positioning is important. See Figures 1 and 2, they provide a comparison of NovAtel's traditional least squares solution with the GL1DE solution. The data for these plots was collected in a test scenario meant to closely replicate the pass-to-pass motion of an agriculture application. A FlexPak-V1 receiver and GPS-702-GGL antenna were mounted on a test vehicle traveling east to west at speeds of 5-12 kph.
The smooth consistency of GL1DE's positional output delivers a much more stable input into guidance tools for pass-to-pass applications. This characteristic GL1DE performance can be seen in Figure 2.
The GL1DE effect is most noticeable when using a SMART-V1 antenna, which has a lower quality antenna than the 700-series antenna we used in the above comparison. Its least squares solution is typically much noisier than with a FlexPak/Pinwheel combination and the GL1DE solution smoothes it exceptionally well.
